National Open Level Singles - Category D 2018

This weekend HHTC hosted the National Open Level Singles Championships (Category D) for 30-34 & 35-39 Handicaps. We had a very strong draw of 18 competitors from across the country with many tight and hard fought battles!

Huge Congratulations to Hatfield's own Stephen Brewerton who took home the 30-34 section of the Category D held at Hatfield over the weekend. Steve was on brutal form to win 6/1 6/3 over the very talented Oli Taylor of Jesmond Dene, who will definitely be going on to bigger and better things in the very near future! Definitely one to watch.... Thanks to all the players for making the tournament such a fun and competitive one!

In the 35-39 Section of the Category D it was a titanic battle which saw Ronald Paterson of MCC, use all his experience to overcome Shovan Tamjidi of MURTC, 6/4 6/5 in over 1 1/2 hours! Both players and the marker seemed delighted it didn't go to a final set! Great credit to both players on a great match played in a great spirit and especially to Shovan who is undoubtedly the most relaxed player ever to play this game!!

We hope to see many of the competitors back next year but also wish the up and coming players the best of luck in the lower divisions which many will no doubt qualify for in the following season!
